RIL Digest #LET US TALK ABOUT TRUE LOVE (Seasonedwith two Part two ) This is Love; total experience of God himself in the soul of man. This is freedom from oneself, others and things; esteeming nothing else but God and knowing Him as our only joy and fulfillment. Even the world in its folly has glimpses of this truth and to some extent sees the danger of having one’s confidence in anything that is susceptible to failure. We see it when married couples set up different bank accounts.We hear it in the so called ‘love’ songs that suggest that, “when you love someone, you have got to learn to let them go.” This is an attempt by somebody to free themselves from the dominion and enslavement of those they love. The question here is of the power at work. Is it self? It is true and okay for us to fall in love and love others in return. Love is good, and even the Lord admonishes us on this. Yet true love is freedom and not bondage to somebody; and from here we miss it. True love should never be that which takes away your joy and peace in the absence of those your love. Personally I don’t want to be loved in such a way that one cannot do without me; this is what I call a burden. I don’t want to assume the position of one’s savior. I cannot imagine living my whole life trying to please somebody and wanting them to feel a certain way. It is a lot of work to have somebody’s life dependent on you. No wonder the whole creation groans; we have placed too much reliance on it- more than it can bear. How? For example, we have forgotten our healer and sought from herbs what only God can enable them do. We have forsaken our protector and sought from animals (dogs) the only fortress that God is to us. It is sad that we have not only looked at fellow man this way, but we have also loaded him with what he cannot bear- our life. Yes the whole creation awaits for the revelation of the true sons of God- those who have come to the knowledge that all of life springs from God. The true sons also know their only savior and anchor for their soul. So they relieve others of that responsibility and love them any way. This is unconditional love. True love remains
