RIP Mac! Ian McLagan has passed away. Terrible news. I had the great pleasure of recording with him in 1975. Recorded in 1975 as a demo for a possible joint venture new band featuring two Arrows band members (Alan Merrill and Paul Varley) and two of The Faces (Tetsu Yamauchi and Ian McLagan) as the lineup. The Faces had just split up and the Arrows were unhappy with the lack of label support for their 4th single “I Love Rock N Roll.” Shortly after this demo was recorded Ian McLagan was offered a gig as a touring member of the Rolling Stones entourage, the Arrows got their own TV series based on one performance of the song “I Love Rock N Roll” on a Muriel Young TV show called “45” and Tetsu Yamauchi left England to reside in Japan, only returning to London to guest with Stomu Yamashita in the 70s. Ian McLagan died today, Dec. 3, 2014. RIP Mac, you’ll be missed by many. A great talent is gone. Ill never forget being in Island studios Basing street with him and he used a Stringman string synth keyboard for the first time. Bloody hell, Im a whole orchestra! he said playing the parts on the song ending to Somebody To Love. We had a lot of fun. Glad to have known him on the road of life. Gone. Never forgotten. https://youtube/watch?v=2djMoPl7FCk
