THE WAY OF ALL FISH ELVA MAI HOOVER: Ms Asquith With more than 40 years of experience, and countless credits – as well as five separate Gemini and Genie nominations – Elva Mai Hoover is the very definition of a working actor. A graduate of the National Theatre School of Canada, she has also appeared at the Stratford Festival, and played leading roles in regional theatres all across Canada. Continuing TV roles have included Elvira Lawson on Road to Avonlea, Mrs. Edison on The Edison Twins, and Ted’s Mom on Queer as Folk. Recently, she’s appeared in films and TV movies like Mama, a horror movie with Jessica Chastain, Down the Road Again (Sequel to Goin’ Down the Road), Murdoch Mysteries, Flashpoint, and Rookie Blue, as well as stage plays like Doubt, Like the First Time, Harvest, Rabbit Hole, and Romeo and Juliet. In 2012, for Piecing Together Pauline, Jon Kaplan named her as one of the eight outstanding performances at the Toronto Fringe.
