While I agree with the general point of this quote, it present some phrasing which, I take issue with. The point of preventing climate change from accelerating is not to "save" the planet. The planet will be here with or without excessive changes in its climate. What needs protection are the truly vulnerable and possibly unique lifeforms that inhabit the Earth. I feel that saying we need to "save the planet" sets the bar so high that many people will simply view it as too abstract or unattainable. In a time when we need every individual working towards the same goal, motivation is key. Changing this pat-phrase to be something more along the lines of "protect our fellow species, protect ourselves", would, in my opinion, help more people to understand what is at stake and, in turn, would lead to more action. What do YOU think?
