RIP SIR. THE Fiji Rugby fraternity mourns the death of a rugby hero and former Nadroga rugby flyer Ravuama Latilevu early this week. Latilevu was a member of the invincible Nadroga team that successfully retained the coveted Farebrother Sullivan trophy from 1971 to 1979. He was also a member of the Fiji team that narrowly lost 13-14 against the touring All Blacks side in 1974 after making his national debut in 1970. Latilevus former Nadroga teammate Jo Green Rayawa said the former rugby star was one of the best Fijian wingers to grace the international rugby scene. Rayawa said Latievus never say die attitude was always feared by his opposition and he was a vital member of the Nadroga team in the 70s. This is a sad day for Fiji and Nadroga rugby, said Rayawa. Lati is a gifted rugby player who always gave his best for any team he played for. He will be sadly missed by the players we played with that great Nadroga team. Rayawa said the late rugby star was also a strong supporter of the game after retiring and never always made time to watch the Nadroga team played at Lawaqa. Latilevu represented the country on 34 occassions and scored 10 tries during his five year stint in the national team including his cap game against New Zealand, Australia, England, Tonga, Canada. He will be buried at his village in Keiyasi, Navosa, on January 23.
