RLT Acting Premiere (you are never to old to try anything---dreams do come true) They held the screening of the IFP/Phx Challenge films last night. There were 28 short films that singed up. Only 16 of them ended up completing their film. There were a couple very tough competitors. I did not get the Best Actor award. Darn, maybe next time. So which one of you did not wish me good luck or break a leg? I’ll be checking. We did not make the top 3 (I think we were in the top 5), but we did win the Audience award. There were 2 or 3 that were awful. Our film editors did a great job of pulling the film together. Sound was a little iffy at times. Yours truly was in his best form and the audience gave up some good laughs at the right moment. I was one of the bad guys. The theme was corruption. It was about a group of old people that played Bingo a lot (definitely not me). I was banned for life. Yea, GREAT. I rigged the balls. The movie was called RIGGED. I hope my exposure to the Bonanno gang during my early years in Tucson did not influence my future acting career. Am I doomed to be a bad guy- like James Cagney? Or maybe a sweetheart like James Stewart or Cary Grant or Tom Cruise, maybe Chris Pine. Time will tell. As soon as I get a copy or it is put on YouTube, I will let you know. My next audition is for a Vampire Hunter in a Blade look alike short. To be filmed right here in Glendale. I’ll get to use all the Karate moves I learned over 40 years ago. I still remember them like it was yesterday. Yea, sure. Maybe I better practice with Colin or Carter first. Jab, Punch, Block, Spin, Kick (well maybe not the spin/kick part). This part will probably send me right back to the back doctor. Dont wish me break a leg on this one--it might happen. They are having a real Karate person choreography it. I have to sign a wavier in case I break something or someone else breaks something on me. Wish me luck will do. Randy, I should have tried out for Stalag 13 at Brophy. You played your part well.
