ROB (A0989998) ****I AM A SENIOR CHIHUAHUA….SEE ME SHAKE**** You know those times when you are very stressed, either from work or from life and you feel backed into a corner? The only thing you want to do is protect yourself, but you want to make it known that you don’t want to be messed with? Well that is the way Rob feels. Those of us who understand Chihuahua’s know this to be a normal trait of theirs, it is known as the NAPLOLEON COMPLEX, or the SMALL DOG SYNDROME. It is not a bad thing, it is not contagious, it is not deadly, it is just a thing they do to make sure they don’t get hurt or messed with. Rob is a 12 year old Chihuahua brought into the shelter as a stray. How does a senior dog end up on the street all alone to fend for himself? I am sure he did not wake up one day and say” Nope, don’t like this house anymore, I am outta here.” Let me tell you another thing about Chihuahua’s: they don’t like change, they actually fear it. So imagine Rob getting up there in age, being all alone, having to fend for himself in a scary new environment. He is TERRIFIED. He doesn’t know who to trust or where to turn. So Rob is acting up, turning on his tough guy act and baring his teeth to make sure everyone knows not to mess with him. What Rob doesn’t know is that we know that is only fear talking, he is not a mean guy, just misunderstood. The last thing I want to share with you about the traits of Chihuahua’s, they are FIERCELY loyal to their human. Once they trust you, there is no getting rid of them until one of you dies. And the life span of a Chihuahua can be close to 17-20 years old, so Rob is here for awhile. Unfortunately, Rob won’t get a chance to prove himself because h has made the dreaded Kill List tonight. Which means without help, Rob will be dead tomorrow. And with Rob’s fear, he will be one of the first online at the death room. But all that can be changed, YOU can stop that from happening to Rob by sharing him for a forever home. Even better would be opening your home to Rob. He doesn’t take up much room and is a low maintenance kind of guy. Rob just needs someone to take a chance on him and see past the fear. Without it, this will be the last place Rob will call home. And that is no way for a senior to leave this earth. Rob is counting on you. Start contacting rescues now.
