ROBBERY SUSPECT DIES IN BAUCHI SHOOTOUT Bauchi State Police Command and the Anti-Robbery Squad team have killed an armed robbery suspect and recovered arms in Bauchi. Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Haruna Mohammed, who stated this yesterday while briefing newsmen in Bauchi, said: “The Police received an intelligence report that a gang of armed robbers, numbering about five, attacked one Mrs Adah Gboyi of Tudun Wada Ring Road in Jos, Plateau State. “They tied her up and made away with her Toyota Highlander SUV. The car is black with number plate Lagos LND 950 BJ, valued at N6.5 million. “They also stole three of her handsets, but unfortunately for the robbers, the vehicle was traced to Bauchi State.” Haruna said that men of the state Police Command laid an ambush for the robbers at Zaranda area, but the robbers engaged the Police in a shootout. He said: “During the exchange of fire, one of the robbers died on the spot, while others escaped with bullets wounds, abandoning the vehicle and other exhibits.” He added that the Police recovered the stolen vehicle, one AK-47 rifle, with No. KO.35-6371, one locally made pistol, 55 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, five cartridges and one magazine. Haruna appealed to the public to report any person seen with bullet wounds at the nearest Police Station.
