ROBOCOP - ROBOCOP-OUT! To get the ball rolling since I just watched it, Robocop the remake.Ihave fond memories of Robocop the original with its odd charm. No doubt the dodgy suit and questionable acting is the reason it holds a place in my heart. However theres a new cop in town! Robos been given a go faster stripes make over and is here to do buisness. New CGI, big budget and a classic character!? What can go wrong?more like what cant go wrong with this fumble. Alex Marshall is a good guy looking to take crime down with his partner. However they tread on to many toes of big crime boses and hes got to go. A car bomb later and we have mangled Alex, that needs to be saved by drastic measures. Enter Robocop. Omnicorp are looking to use drones and robots to police the US, and Robocop is the compromise the people are asking for. Not a robot, but as clinical and effective as a one. Now Robocop has to struggle with his new life and body and also rid the city of crime like no one else before him.But ofcourse omnicorp isnt as truthful and loving as the public think and Alex must wage a war on crime, corrupt cops, politicians and the powers that be. Sounds like a cool popcorn flick right? Wrong. The story is as bland and action free as Dora the explorer. Even where there is action its been toned down and edited so much to meet the certificate it feels very bubblewrapped instead of gritty and over the top like the original. The lead actor is as wooden as a robot in the feature even when hes not Robocop! Gary oldman as the scientists tries his best to inject some emotion in this film but at no use. The film leaves you craving some bone crunching, slomo headsploadin action but gives you a flat 2d snore fest at a 2 hour run time. The CGI seems very poor for the budget of the film and doesnt allow any immersion into the film. This is not the Dredd remake ,that Robocop needed. Stick to the original guys this one gets a. .........D
