ROK and Eighth Army Band to hold joint concert Eighth Army Band will be performing in a combined concert with ROK Capital Defense Command (CDC) Band. The U.S.-ROK Joint Military Concert, called ‘Love of Country,’ is being held on Oct. 15, 2014, 7:30pm at the Gwacheon Citizens’ Hall, Gyeonggi-do. The bands will be presenting famous songs from both Korea and U.S., such as Arirang Rhapsody, Memory, and We Go Together. There are also several special guests to include violinist Jong Hoon Kim, tenor Dong Sin Lee, and singer December DK. This event is to commemorate South Korea’s 61st Armistice Anniversary. The armistice was signed on July 27, 1953 by U.S. Army Lieutenant General William Harrison Jr. and North Korea General Nam-il, and was designed to ensure a complete cessation of hostilities and of all acts of armed force in Korea until the final peaceful settlement was achieved. The Eighth Army Band has been continuing in the proud tradition started over 90 years ago. It consists of 65 highly trained Soldier-musicians, and provides Eighth Army and United States Forces Korea with high quality, versatile musical entertainment. The Capital Defense Command Band performs at various ceremonies and events for foreign and national dignitaries.
