ROY LEON PILGRIM, age 74, of Cornelia, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2013. Mr. Pilgrim was born in Cleveland, Georgia on March 26, 1939; he was the son of Alma Wade Pilgrim and the late John Pilgrim. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ed Pilgrim and sister, Melba Smith. Mr. Pilgrim was of the Christian Faith. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Pilgrim began his employment career serving in management with Scovill Manufacturing Company, Wayne Poultry, CWT Farms and ISA Farms, all in a management level; after his poultry service career, he along with his wife, Dorene, owned and operated The Gillsville Café. In addition to his mother, survivors include, wife Dorene F. Pilgrim, Cornelia; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Andy Jackson, Cornelia; step-son and wife, Eric D. and Stephanie Hicks, Cornelia; sisters, Queenola Daniel, Cornelia, Charlene Ivester, Clarkesville, and Elizabeth Allen, Gainesville; brothers, Terry Pilgrim, Tony Pilgrim and Jerry Pilgrim all of Cleveland; grandchildren, Dylan Jackson and Sarah Jackson; step-grandchildren, Nicholas Hicks and Nathan Hicks. Funeral services are scheduled for 3 p.m. on Saturday, November 30, 2013, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia with Rev. Gary Hefner and Rev. Donald Grizzle officiating. Interment will follow in the Yonah Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. -2:30p.m. on Saturday, November 30, 2013, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North, Chapel, Demorest, Georgia.
