RUN 1078B Hares Mahatma @ Shiboro on 28/07/13 (5 hound couples) Hounds gathered up the mountain in drips & drabs. Cyborg was the first to arrive, & Frog the last – of the runners. On-Out was called & the pack scattered, looking for the trail. (There was rather a lot of interference with the scent.) It was found, right. There was a slow trek to the first river crossing – where French Letter got wet feet without really trying. A quick view of the tree nursery was undertaken – so many trees & such shade! Scent led on then took an unexpected left – right through someone’s front yard. This section was a huge loop, with many pretty viewpoints & many grassy lanes. Cyborg was particularly enthralled. (Actually, after a grey week, the second half of the run was undertaken in sunshine, although the temperature wasn’t high.) Trail led around to the left & arrived back at the same river crossing in reverse. More dampness for French Letter. Instead of On-In at this point, the hare led the pack up to another viewpoint & only then allowed them to take a shortcut back to the lane. On-In was surprisingly short. ON-ON Cyborg declared it a nice run. There was a little virgin trail – in particular, the grassy saddle lane. GM had apologised for non-appearance, due to “double trouble at t’mill”. Duck, stand-in GM, brought a special card for Birthday Boy. The Virgin runner was commended. Obama & Wasp had Mobiles on the Run. Cyborg was rewarded for being Germanic-ally prompt. Duck was reviled for kicking up the dust on the On-In. Obama was applauded for his achievements on his African Trip. French Letter took someone’s name in vain. Wasp remembered to doff the hat, then his phone rang…..someone else was lost. Wailer was seemingly “on the way”. Chewy was watching everything with fascination. Doubting Thomas was Competitive – been watching too many Kenyans. Frog was awarded for not teaching DT the Rules. Hee Haw was centred for telling porkies – she hadn’t really walked to Shiboro from Kisongo. A Committee meeting was held, & questions asked, then the Virgin was baptised Mbwa Mwitu. Don’t sang. Frog required another downdown but couldn’t remember why. RA joined him. Doubting Thomas’ phone (not stomach) rumbled again, so he & Frog were re-centred. Wasp gave the Samsung ringtone but was reminded that there was no advertising on the Hash. Cyborg took a “local brew” downdown that looked interesting. Photos that Dr. Bones had sent Duck were handed out to all & sundry. Thank you – Dr. Bones!
