Theres a gray fox in our yard nightly. Often mistaken as a red - TopicsExpress

Theres a gray fox in our yard nightly. Often mistaken as a red fox, the grays short body hair is grey and longer hairs are reddish. The gray is a native; the reds introduced from Europe for fox hunts. I had the opportunity to study the grays in the coastal forest at Caspersen Beach on the Gulf. They den in gopher tortoise burrows. They are often outmuscled by Bobcats who take over the dens. I worry our fox is getting too tame. Nothing is sadder than watching this cunning creature beg for food in the parking lots at Island Beach In NJ.
