Last Sumner my good mare John Day contracted pneumonia, plural pneumonia and a few lung abscesses. They gave her a 20% chance to live, feeling a responsibility to her, I stopped rodeoing to tend to her. She spent two months on the back lawn; seven months, 5 chest tubes, 13 bottles of various antibiotics, 500 mLs of banamine, 200 grams of bute and many sleepless nights later she is back. Rodeo is tough road, great horses are as hard to come by as great people in your corner.
