RURAL AUSTRALIA ABANDONED BY KEVIN RUDD, TONY ABBOTT AND WARREN TRUSS. Property value and primary produce marketability continues to be at threat from the Coal Seam Gas industry, and rural Australia has been abandoned by the all of the major political parties. With Labor, the National Party and the Liberal Party all supporting industrialisation over land management, economic growth over sustainable agriculture and mining over farmers rights parties like the Stop CSG Party are finding a groundswell of support in regional areas. “Farmers and rural towns are the backbone of our Country, accounting for a whopping 2.4% of our Gross Domestic Product, and they are under attack by the Coal Seam Gas Mining industry. These attacks are being supported by all of the major political parties” said Gordon Fraser of the Stop CSG Party. With two candidates in New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria, The Stop CSG Party is primarily concerned about the affects of the Coal Seam Gas Mining industry on farmers, with policies protecting land-holders rights and the quality of Australia’s primary produce. Whilst farmers are required to submit Vendor Declaration Statements about the safety of their produce the CSG industry can still emit toxic chemicals, fumes, gases, dust and waste water that can affect the quality, reliability and market acceptance of farmers products. The CSG industry emissions cannot be controlled by famers but their waste can render farmers produce unsaleable. Land values, often built over generations of blood, sweat and tears can be slashed overnight when a farmer gets a CSG well or other equipment next door to his own well cared for farm. “How can it be OK for multi-national gas companies to steal a farmer’s Livelihood? What about his family inheritance and his retirement fund or superannuation? Why should his produce be at risk from an industry that imposes itself on his community and district?” asked Mr Fraser “The Stop CSG Party is independent of any other party. We are fighting for farmer’s rights and to protect rural towns from the CSG curse spreading across the country. Regional Australia has been let down by Labor, confused by the Coalition and been green washed by other political parties.” continued Mr Fraser. Analysis of voting trends shows the Stop CSG Party has a very real chance to be elected to the Senate in this election. With many minor parties standing in the Senate tight preference arrangements see the Stop CSG Party capable of securing the final Senate seat and thus able to fight in Canberra for the rights of rural and regional Australia. “As an independent party we are not a slave to multi-national miners, we owe no favours to political donors or to sponsors with vested interest. Our only interest is to fight to respect farmer’s rights, and battle against the unsafe, unfair, and unproven CSG industry in a completely ethical, politically transparent way.” The election this Saturday will see record numbers of candidates vying to enter the Senate. The Stop CSG Party has a strong membership across regional Australia. Farmers, truck drivers, teachers, mechanics, fencing contractors are among the members.
