RUSH TO PAY TAXES BEFORE YEAR-END – BUT AMNESTY ON SOME TAXES Scores of anxious taxpayers bombarded some Barbados Revenue Authority or B.R.A. locations today in time to pay various taxes before the end of the year. However, the Authority is reminding taxpayers that Finance Minister Chris Sinckler has proposed an amnesty on interest and penalties accrued at December 31st, 2014 in relation to land tax, value added tax and income taxes. The amnesty has been granted on the condition that any outstanding principal must be paid on or before March 15th, 2015. The authority has also advised that these payments may be made in installments for convenience. However, in a statement, the authority further advised the public should note that the Municipal Solid Waste Tax is not included in the amnesty, and that the final payment date for the Municipal Tax, without penalty, remains December 31st, 2014. Meanwhile, all of the authoritys locations will be closing from one in the afternoon tomorrow (December 31st 2014).
