RUSTY Sadly Rusty, a beautiful German Shepherd, a recently retired Police dog went to Rainbow Bridge. Rusty belonged to a close friend of mine. Rusty loved his work. Only two weeks ago he found his owners Iphone after over an hour of her searching , even though he had been retired for two years. Rusty spent a year of his retirement in Teneriffe which he loved and he swam every day. He was a Rescue dog who started working with the Police at 1 year old. He had a very close bond with his owner and partner, his Mum. He adored her and was a credit to her. Infact he loved everyone. He was highly trained, loved his work and was always rewarded with his favourite toy in the world, his Kong. Caz actually had 2 Kongs but Rusty thought she only had one. This was incase the Kong should ever be lost. Rusty had a switch he could flick on and off - ie his Police hat on and his other one - ie tickle my tummy I love everyone. He was so soft he would even lie on the kitchen floor with a bunny rabbit ( and I mean a real one ) Rusty was an Ambassador for LRRSS and did demos to raise funds for the Rescue. Rusty visited my home frequently. He would come in to say hello, find a toy, say hello to Pilgrim and Emma then lie infront of the log burner and watch what was going on and then have a sleep and snore. He made himself at home and turned himself into a hound dog. I will miss his visits so very much as will Pilgrim and Emma. Rusty was more than a Police dog to Caz, he was her best pal as well as her K9 Partner. He is also the last of Cazs canine family. Sadly Caz lost Denver and Tia, two beautiful Rhodesian Ridgebacks over the last 3 years so its the end of an era. Caz is devastated at losing Rusty, he was running playing with his toy and less than 24 hours later she was saying goodbye to him. I know how devastated you are Caz, and how much you loved him and miss him. Rusty was your partner and best friend. I can just picture Tias disappointment in having to share Denver with Rusty on Rainbow Bridge, my how Rusty loved Denver too. Until you meet Rusty, Tia and Denver again Caz and you will.
