Rabbi Max returns to us this weekend, and will lead Shabbat - TopicsExpress

Rabbi Max returns to us this weekend, and will lead Shabbat services, commencing at 7:30 Friday evening, followed by an Oneg, fellowship & good chat. Torah Study opens Saturday morning at 10 AM, investigating the portion Toledot (Genesis 25:19-28:9) in which Rebekah and Isaac have twins, the smooth-skinned Jacob, who Rebekah favors, and the hairy Esau, who Isaac favors. After coming home from a hunting trip, Esau asks his brother for some lentil soup, but Jacob tells him he must trade him his birthright. Years later, when Isaac is old and blind, Jacob tricks his father into giving him the firstborn blessing. Jacob leaves his home, out of fear of his brother, to find a wife at his uncle Labans house. The Haftarah (Malakhi 1:1-2:7) contains a direct allusion to the Torah portion: I have shown you love, said the Lord. But you ask, How have You shown us love? After all--declares the Lord--Esau is Jacobs brother; yet I have accepted Jacob and rejected Esau. Well have continued studies in the Tanach. Theres always coffee, tea and leftover Oneg noshes. Please make an effort to attend as many study sessions as you can, and rediscover the wealth of our heritage and history! NO Religious School this Sunday or the next. Enjoy the days off! Rabbi Salazar, Sofer overseeing the restoration of our Holocaust Torah, will return to us on Sunday, Dec. 7, announces Chuck London. He will give a presentation on our Torah and Torah writing. Those who attended his discussion in January were very impressed and learned a lot. He is also giving us an opportunity to assist him in writing individual letters, a great mitzvah. To manage this, Chuck is scheduling people in 15 minute blocks of time in both the morning and afternoon of December 7. To make your reservations, Email the temple at shalom@tbsfwb for more information.. There are slots morning & evening, but first come, first served. There will be no “walkins”. At least 80 participants are expected; around 40 have already signed up. No special requests will be accepted. Please email only. This is a very special opportunity, indeed once in a lifetime, for our congregation. A very Happy Thanksgiving to all! See you in temple!
