Race 1 quick result rain had stopped but the track was wet and greasy so all FSTs started on slicks. Qualfying had mixed the FVs in so the first few laps were hectic on a drying track. Clark made a break and cleared the field and opened a gap that was never challenged. McSherry made his way through the grid to challenge Seim. Casualties incl Gordon oil pressure issues, Dawson engine, and Podgorski who spun and hit the wall heading to the toe resulting in LHS damage front and rear. Drive of the race to Dave Blevins who held fast lap twice only to be piped by Clark late in the race
