Race day info has just gone out, here it is for those of you who dont get the emails! The Great Yorkshire PIEATHLON Parking There is parking down the side of Longwood Edge Road, (parking is against the wall next to playing fields)please follow our pie marshals instructions and park only one side of the road. If you park in this area, you will NOT be permitted to move your car until the last pieathlete has finished. If you need to eat and dash, please park sensibly on one of the side roads. The Event Centre The Edge Cafe, Longwood Edge Road, Longwood, Huddersfield, HD3 4XN Our event centre cafe is a real gem, please show your appreciation to our lovely hosts by staying for some homemade food, cake and a cuppa. Registration Open 9am - 10.15am Please arrive in good time to pick up your race number and check out the pies Start RaceBriefing at 10:15 Race starts 10:30 Baggage Drop We have a baggage area in the cafe, please don’t leave valuable pie in it as we can’t be held responsible for loss… and we have very hungry pie dogs. Fancy Dress As this is the 2nd running of the Great Yorkshire Pieathlon, we would love to see you in even better fancy dress costumes than last year (fancy dress optional). We want to see a myriad of mad chefs, a riot of running onions, a chasseur of chicken legs or maybe just pop on a pinny and a chefs hat and bring your rolling pin. The Course, the pie and the prizes For those that do not know the course, it is due to the lovely recent weather a tad muddy in places, which should add to all the fun. The course will be fully marked with black arrows on a yellow background, so look out for them and follow the marshals instructions at all times (they are there for your own safety). You will at the beginning and the end be running on open roads, so be sensible and stick to the pavement and don’t go playing with cars. Also you will be running across the 9th hole on the golf course. We will stop play when you are running, but no pinching the golf balls. There will be two pie stations and at both there will be a mixture of savoury and sweet pies for you to chomp on. At both, there will be fluids available to wash down your pies with. (Both piestations have a limited supply of gluten free pies for those who requested it.) We will of course have a bad mad chef running around the course causing mayhem and madness. Be super nice to him because you don’t want to be put on washing up duties. Feel free to have your photo taken with him and his giant pie. There will be pie related prizes for 1st, 2nd & 3rd gentleman and lady pieathletes, best team name. best fancy dress and a lot of spot prizes Selection Boxes The Laura Crane Trust are collecting chocolate selection boxes to hand out on the wards at Christmas. Please bring a selection box to pieathlon and make someone smile at Christmas. It is such a little thing, but means so much. After pie, chocolate is the next best thing, then cake.....erm......then probably wine! Chocathlon and Wineathlon Enjoyed pieathlon? Well if you do (and we are pretty sure that you will) then why not enter our other charity fundraisers for the Laura Crane Trust in 2015. How about running and chocolate? Or running with Wine? Check our the website teamoa.co.uk for exclusive details of these limited entry races. Pie, Chocolate and Wine! Perfect!
