Rachel Fuller is the president of the Australian Breastfeeding - TopicsExpress

Rachel Fuller is the president of the Australian Breastfeeding Association. She says that most women in Australia plan to breastfeed, with 96 per cent initiating breastfeeding. However, there is a “marked drop” in breastfeeding in the first few months. “If a mother doesnt breastfeed for as long as she planned it is often because she didn’t receive the support she needed,” says Fuller. “The key point is to try to prevent this from happening by providing women with knowledgeable support so they breastfeed for as long as they, and their child, want to.” But when breastfeeding doesn’t work out, Fuller says that it is important to provide women with “compassionate support” – which will hopefully help decrease the number of PND cases in desperate mums.
