Rachmaninoff Corelli Variations. Alessandro Mazzamuto piano Young artist of the year for Internazional Classical Music Awards 2013. A presentation of this young artist: Alessandro Mazzamuto is an outstanding and marvellous musician. He is the most extraordinary pianist I have had the joy to hear. I first heard him playing in Bolzano and I invited him to perform in my festival in Lugano. His technique is absolutely extraordinary and brillant. His music making is just wonderful! He played one of the most great recital I have heard recentely. I will give him all my support and I wish him a wonderful career! Martha Argerich Alessandro Mazzamuto, pianist, was born in Catania in 1988. He graduated from the Music Institute Vincenzo Bellini in Catania, under the guidance of Epifanio Comis, with honors and honorable mention. Alessandro began studying piano at the age of 9, showing great talent and versatility. After a few months he had his first recital in the prestigious Society Concert Liceum in Catania. At the age of 10 he performed the Mozarts Concerto K414, then at 11 the Schumanns concerto in A minor, at 13 the Brahms Concerto in D minor. In 2002 and in 2004 he performed the Rachmaninovs Concertos n.2 and 3 in the United States, always receiving great appreciation from critics and audiences. Winner of more than fifty national and international competitions, he has often been invited to play in many European and American countries, including Romania, Moldova, Ukraine, Italy and the USA, performing in prestigious venues, including the Salle Cortot in Paris, La Fenice in Venice, University Romano of Bacau (Romania), Il Tempio in Florence, Il Bagaglino in Porto Cervo, Opera House Massimo Bellini in Catania, Swope Hall West Chester (Pennsylvania, USA), Salle Chopin in Paris, etc.. He has played with many orchestras as the Rias Berlin Youth Orchestra (Germany), the Chamber Orchestra of Kiev (Ukraine), the International Youth Symphony Orchestra, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Ploesti (Romania), the Bacau Philharmonic Orchestra (Romania), the Chamber Orchestra of State Philharmonic Dimitrescu of Valcea (Romania) and with conductors such as Daisuke Soga, Tomasz Bugaj, Ovidiu Balan, Horace Baronello, Amauri Du Closet, Valentin Doni, Ovidiu Marinescu, Epifanio Comis. He won the fifth prize at the prestigious Premio Venezia, the first prize in the National Award Muzio Clementi, the International Prize Vincenzo Scaramuzza, the European competition Mendelssohn Cup, the International award Sailer. Finalist at the 58th edition of the prestigious International Competition Ferruccio Busoni in Bolzano 2011, and awarded with the special prize Gianandrea Lodovici which consists in the production of a CD for the German label ARTS with worldwide distribution. This prize was awarded at the discretion of the president of the jury Maestro Martha Argerich, being chosen from among 24 finalists and for having demonstrated during the competition the best potential for a recording project, with a particular depth and originality of interpretation. Thanks to the recording of the above mentioned CD with music by Rachmaninov, Alessandro Mazzamuto together with the ARTS record company was awarded by the international critics with the prize Supersonic - Pizzicato. He also got the nomination for the International Classical Music Award (ICMA) of January 2013 whose final ceremony will be held in Milan on the 18th of March. He has performed not only as a soloist but also as a duo with his brother Lorenzo. He has performed at the Festival Busoni 2012 and currently plays in all locations of the Donor of Music in Italy. He teaches piano at the Musical Institute Pietro Vinci in Caltagirone, the Municipal Institute Giuseppe Privitera in Syracuse and the Accademia Musicale Siciliana in Adrano. Recently he has performed for Vladimir Ashkenazy at the ,ACCADEMIA PIANISTICA SICILIANAof Catania, where he got the enthusiastic congratulations of the great Maestro.
