Racism comes in many forms. There is a man who shops at my store who is from India, given the turban he wears on his head. 2 separate times, derogatory remarks were made to or about him by people who I am sure were not intentionally trying to be jerks. The first time, another customer thought he worked somewhere in Brecksville because a bunch of you work there. The second time, someone made a negative comment about his turban and I replied that I thought he was a nice man and that Ive talked to him at his job at Target. The other person seemed genuinely surprised that he worked at Target because she figured he owned a convenient store or was in oil. These remarks have stuck with me and I just dont know why people dont think before they open their mouths. No matter how much we evolve, bigotry and hatred and ignorance will still be with us.
