Rainy season will be coming to a close. As the dry season progresses, I hope the heat does not once again have me ending up with a case of boils. It is common here, and they are no picnic. Maybe I will be acclimated this time. School is going well and I have challenged the Peace Corps gal from Mattru Jahn to a speech and debate competition between the schools. We will be travelling sometime in January (it is hoped--nothing is ever for sure here) for the debate. I have been trash talking big time, so we better win. We are looking at three debaters to a side. Also we will have an extemporaneous, an informative, and a persuasive speech by one person each. Also, two readings of poems, and African one by Sierra Leonean Sly Cheney-Coker (a fine one by the way) and one by American Langston Hughes. We need a prize so that the winner gets to keep it at his or her school. Any suggestions--keeping in mind my limited resources of course. Maybe the prized Black Mamba Skin if I can locate one and have it mounted nicely with a few scorpions and tarantulas as accents? No, you decide.
