Rajouri, Aug 30: The deadlock between teaching fraternity and administration of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) here entered fourth day today while teachers continued to boycott classes. Under the banner of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University Teachers Association (BGSBUTA), teachers of the University boycotted classes for the fourth consecutive day due to which academicactivit ies in the university came to a standstill. Reports said that the protesting teachers are organising a major protest rally in favour of their demands ‘which will commence from the College of Engineering at 11 AM on Saturday and will culminate at Sabrang Square’. A BGSBUTA member told Greater Kashmir that the strike will continue until and unless their demands, which have already been accepted, are not implemented. Association members claimed the strike is aimed at rectifying the systems of theuniversity and to remove faults so that the academic environment in the university flourishes. “We appeal the University Chancellor, Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah to intervene in the matterand address our issues”, BUSBUTA Spokesperson, Mir Aijaz said, who added that the protest of the teaching fraternity will continue unless their demands are met. Meanwhile, sources told Greater Kashmir add that Deputy Commissioner Rajouri , Faqir Chand Bhagattoday visited the university where he held meetings with the protesting BGSBU Teachers Association and the administration of university. Talking to Greater Kashmir, Bhagat confirmed that meetings have been held with teachers as well as university officials and expressed hope that the ongoing strike will end soon. It is pertinent here to mention, whole of the teaching fraternity of the Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University is on indefinite strike and is boycotting classes for last four consecutive days. Their teachers’ demands have already been accepted by university administration but ‘has failed to implement them so far’.
