Ramadan provides best spiritual training: Geelani ‘Donate generously to help needy, affected people’ Srinagar, July 08 :Chairman Hurriyat (G), Syed Ali Geelani Monday felicitated Muslim Ummah on advent of Ramadan month and said being a month for steadfastness and compassion Muslims should exhibit benevolence for poor and weaker sections of society. In a statement Geelani said Ramadan is best period that provides supreme spiritual training and Muslims should take maximum advantage of it to eradicate evils in the society. He said, “It is the foremost obligation for us to establish and shape a virtuous society based on high moral values and this target can neither be achieved through delivering speeches nor fulfilled through formation of regulations.” Hurriyat (G) Chairman said, adherence to Islamic rituals would pave way for formation of an ideal, perfect and dutiful society and in turn treat social and moral disorders that are posing threat to society. He said fasting lists at top in Islamic rituals and it is remarkable by its unique advantages. Geelani said it has a positive impact over the human psyche and its moral aspects are unique. Geelani said according to modern medical science it is the best treatment for many physical ailments. He said Ramadan is a month of patience and compassion and motivates to serve needy in society. It is responsibility of administration based on Islamic jurisprudence to collect alms and donation in terms of Zakat and distribute among people who deserve. “We are in under the clutches of a despotic system and there exists no such concept to serve this deserving class. We have to share the responsibility and come to the rescue of the deserving class, Geelani said. He said the month of Ramadan is most relevant and appropriate for this objective. Geelani said, for this purpose Bait-ul–mall committees have been established which collect donations from well wishers and distributes the same among deserving and affected people. Geelani said that this work is carried out in an organized manner and job has been entrusted to trustworthy and honest personals. He said Ramadan is the month of forgiveness and we pray Allah help us to honor this blessed month and make this month a source for forgiveness, salvation and freedom.
