Rams Coach, Players Still Leery After ESPNs Michael Sam Shower Report ESPN apologized publicly for its report about Michael Sams showering habits, but coach Jeff Fischer and others involved with the Rams still say the report was out of line. By: Annie Hollenbeck August the 28th, 2014 Source: Advocate ESPN has issued an apology following a segment by bureau reporter Josina Anderson, in which she was asked how Michael Sam was fitting in with the Rams organization. In a detour during her answer, Anderson said an unidentified player had noticed Sam was “waiting to kind of take a shower,” which Anderson implied could be due to Sam’s respect for space and teammate discomfort. The report brought criticism from news organizations, football fans, and even Jon Stewart, who said on the Daily Show Wednesday night, “Michael Sam’s gay. Are we not over this yet?” Even fellow Ram Chris Long succinctly expressed his displeasure with the report, tweeting simply, “Dear ESPN, Everyone but you is over it.” In addition to ESPN’s public apology Wednesday, ESPN’s head of programming and production phoned in a personal apology to the Rams organization, said Rams head coach Jeff Fisher. Still, Fisher had some strong words for Anderson and the self-proclaimed worldwide leader in sports. Im extremely disappointed in her piece. I think its unethical, Fisher told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch Wednesday. She was out of line because she went and contacted several players on their personal time. Misled them with questions and then put this piece together. Anderson has made no comment on her report since Tuesday morning.
