Dear Randall, One year ago today, we made history. Because - TopicsExpress

Dear Randall, One year ago today, we made history. Because of your efforts -- the volunteer hours you put in, the contributions you made, and the votes you cast -- I became Wisconsin’s first woman to serve in the U.S. Senate and the first openly gay member elected to the Senate. As I said then, I didn’t run to make history. I ran to make a difference for middle class families in Wisconsin. And in the year that followed, we’ve already made progress. I’ve used my time in the Senate to fight for all of the things our grassroots network stands for. To reward hard work by moving our economic recovery forward. To create an economy built to last by investing in science, innovation and technology. To improve education and job training for the advanced manufacturing jobs that our Made in Wisconsin economy needs to compete with the rest of the world. I think this first year has proven that when we work across party lines toward responsible, balanced policies, we can make a difference and make sure everyone has a fair shot at getting ahead. Unfortunately, we’ve still got a long way to go. Too many extreme Republicans in the House and Senate are determined to keep Washington in gridlock. Tea Party members and their special interest backers continue to impede progress on everything from a balanced approach to budgeting to ending workplace discrimination in America. Randall -- you and I still have a great deal of work to do. We’ve accomplished so much over the past year, I’m excited to see what we can do in the next year, and the next year, and the next after that, if we continue working together. I just wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you. Thank you for everything you did to propel us to an historic victory in Wisconsin. Thank you for all of the hard work you’ve put in over the past year to help me make real change for the families of Wisconsin. And thank you for all you will do to move us toward the future we all envision.
