Random Song What happens if my favourite lyricist pairs with my favourite singer-music director? Well, first thing you tell yourself is: This IS life! Bees Saal Baad was one such movie. The other was Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam. Both movies coincidentally had Waheeda Rehman in the lead role; though in the latter movie the honours and the Filmfare Award went to the heroine of the movie Meena Kumari. Bees Saal Baad had, unlike Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam, two songs sung by Hemant da. One was: Zara nazaron se keh do ji. The other became an iconic song and is still so. Imagine a song written by Shakeel Badayuni and sung by Hemant da on his own music! As if that is not enough, it was picturised on the most beautiful and graceful Waheeda Rehman who was chosen by NDTV amongst their Thirty Living Legends. By the way, the movie also had a song: Kahin deep jale kahin dil, for which Shakeel Badayuni received one of his four Best Lyricist awards.
