Rant for tonight. So, my son, who has worked Publix for going on 2 years, comes home tonight and informs me that he has been suspended for a week from work and under new rules that he cant work more than 3 hours. What? Are they treating you like a child or what! This 17 year old who has worked every weekend, because Publix doesnt schedule him during the week, works late on Friday and turns around and goes back in on Saturday morning early, working crazy hours and has never and I mean NEVER called out sick is being punished! For what? On Wednesday, the day before THANKSGIVING, one of the busiest days of the year, when he is scheduled to work from 11-8, he simply forgets to double check his scheduled break time, when he realizes it, he asks the supervisor on duty, who told him 6. He clocked out at 5:55, doing what he was told at the moment. But is punished for that... because according to his schedule, the break was at 5. However, after his counseling session, the supervisor who told him to take it at 6, wont fess up to the confusion and now my son is being punished? #Publix get your priorities straight! If customer service is #1, why are your employees being punished for providing that? The mother in me wants to be there in the morning to confront the manager, but the rational side of me will cool down first, and I WILL TALK to someone, because you cant ride the fence. Is your #1 priority #customerservice or is it #punishingthehardworker ? Opinions anyone ?
