Raoul Labrador, considered one of House GOPs smartest, actually said today that president Obama is out to destroy the GOP. It is beyond human comprehension why a GOP lawmaker would accord -- absurdly at that -- a Democratic president the Godly omnipotence to destroy the Republican Party. The idea that any US president has the smarts and power to destroy the opposition party is not only absurd but an unsolicited admission that the GOP is so weak that the propounder of the Affordable Care Act can, with mere words, break the the bones of the opposition party. Just as curiously, Ted Cruze told the American Spectator annual awards dinner audience at the JW Marriott on Wednesday that Republicans had lost the government-shutdown imbroglio in the same speech in which he explained why the GOP had won the agit-prop battle by persuading the party base that the GOP is willing to stand up for its averred principles even when it looks like the future is about to belong to the opposition party and its collectivist inclinations. Must be something in the air or water that is affecting conservative Republicans in official Washington.
