Rarely Heard: Renaldo and the Loaf - Songs For Swinging - TopicsExpress

Rarely Heard: Renaldo and the Loaf - Songs For Swinging Larvae Renaldo and the Loaf was an English musical duo active in the late 1970s and most of the 1980s, consisting of a pathologist (David Janssen or Ted the Loaf) and an architect (Brian Poole or Renaldo Malpractice, most often simply Renaldo M). By their own assertion, they achieved their unique sound in part by striving to get unnatural synthesizzer-like sounds using only what instruments they had available (acoustic ones). To that end they routinely used muffled and de-tuned instruments, and, often to striking effect, tape loops / manipulation. (Allmusic) Luck had it that they befriended the Residents, whose music was similar to theirs and who released their albums. Ive always loved Renaldo and the Loaf, and you could easily scare your friends with their music. Both are still around, and they even have a website: renaldoloaf Surprisingly the Songs For Swinging Larvae clip has 164,379 views on YouTube, and on researching for this entry I found out that their album of the same name (their best) has been rereleased on an Austrian label - I still only have the original LP.
