Rather than simply ask Whats wrong with the Australian film industry? in 2009, Andrew Scarano set out to answer the question in a documentary, INTO THE SHADOWS. Along the way, he interviewed a whos who of Australian film, including Bruce Beresford, George Miller, Rolf de Heer, Robert Connolly, Clayton Jacobson, Scott Hicks, Anthony Buckley, Andrew Denton, Antony I Ginnane, Sue Maslin, Brendan Cowell and Glenys Rowe. The documentary and its title were inspired by the 2006 closure of Canberra’s Electric Shadows independent art cinema.
