Rather than venturing out to the river for water, a mountain cottontail, who has taken up island life, eats snow fallen into a crack between large cottonwoods onto the floor of its logjam home. There must be enough plants on its rocky residence to sustain at least one rabbit. Though mountain cottontail eat mostly grasses such as wheatgrass, needle-andthread, Indian ricegrass, cheatgrass, bluegrass, and bottlebrush squirrel tail, in winter they may survive on bark and twigs (Wikipedia). Its island home sank into the river after big winter snows. - Video by Alan Ramsey This Video Is For Moms Everywhere.
