Rational for living for eternity? Good morning beloved, welcome to ‘Scripture Review’ for this morning… God is looking for a different crop of people even though they are living on the earth BUT THEY ARE NOT LIVING FOR THE EARTH. God is looking for people whose primary reason for living on earth is to labour for eternity. There is something people have seen about the earth that made them not to let go of the beautiful possessions, they cling to it with all passion; but, there is something you have not seen about eternity that makes you not to labour for it. The time we have on earth is only to make a proper choice as we sleep and wake up every day; these are opportunity to take a decision for our placement in eternity. Everything will be useless and wasted if we do not employ all resources at our disposal given the limited time we have on earth to make a proper decision for eternity. What is the rational for living for eternity, the reason why I need to live for eternity? As we consider the nature of earthly things as the first rational for living correctly for eternity and not only for the world. 1cor 15:41, there is one glory of the sun, and another of the moon, and another glory of the stars, for one star differs from another star in glory. Reading through this passage we discover that there is something about this earth that is glorious. There are certain things on the earth that appears glorious because they carry a shining glory. Do you remember Satan showed Jesus the glory of this world? Once you enter into a developed city; there is something glorious about riding flashy cars, living in beautiful houses, wearing beautiful dresses. Is it not glorious when you ride along with a retinue of flashy cars and they are blowing syringe in front of you because an important man is passing, and all eyes on you; it is called the glory of the world. Is it not glorious when everybody is in a meeting and when you come in everybody has to stand up and they will never seat down until you are seated, it is called the glory of the earth, but in most cases you mistaken it to the glory of God. The earth is attractive; the earth is beautiful and looks real, if care is not taking, in vein we will tell you about eternity because it will look unreal to you. What prayer do you pray when you are squeeze in a passenger bus and you see a friend in a cool car with A/C, with his wife and children. They even wave you as they pass. Don’t you pray that God should remember you when you see that glory? Many churches are captured already in the glory of the earth, the only thing they teach their members is how to be rich, how to make money, and they are not talking about eternity, forgetting that we have but a short time to live here on earth. Do you remember what Satan told Jesus after showing Him the beauties of the earth and the glories thereof? He said you must bow down to me before you can get it? Remember the response of our Lord Jesus Christ, get thee behind me Satan. Jesus put both Satan and the world behind. How many of you can see from behind, there is nothing behind you that can attract you. I don’t know who can live for eternity until you put the world and its glories behind. Even if I will have cars and houses, it must come behind me. What a wisdom Jesus exercise for the joy that was set before Him, he endures the cross, the shame, the pain, the poverty, the ridicule. He didn’t allow Satan to impose a fading glory on Him. Satan had to leave, only then did angels came and ministered to Jesus. You cannot receive angelic ministration until the glories of this world has come behind you. Some Christians don’t want to fall down but they want to have the glory of this world. They want to stand straight. And I see many Christians beginning to say should I fall down, or should I not fall down; only because they want to enjoy the glories of this world. The reason why some of us pursue degrees today is because the world calls you ordinary name, when you see others being called, Doctor, Chief, Professor etc. Then you prayed earnestly and begin to run the rat race with the world because you want to be called a special name; that is part of the glories of the earth. But there is something about the glories of the earth; you don’t get it until you fall down. The glory that God want to give Christians is greater than the glory of the earth. What you are seeing on earth if care is not taken will not allow you to see what God has in stock for you. 1John 2:15-17. In the world today, every recent production of any commodity is a reduction of the initial quality, yet people are clamoring for it. The world fades away so quickly; how many of you know that it is more glorious not to be sick, than to have money to go for treatment overseas. Sometime the world will give you a privilege so that you can forget your own glory. There is nothing of the earth that is not corruptible. Even in the church, do you know that it is glorious when you shine as a pastor as your ministry is growing. Some Christians are looking for anointing today so that they can be prominent in the world. What kind of glory are you pursuing? The fading glories of the earth or eternal glory above? The scripture says, set your affections above and not beneath…, love not the world neither the things that are in the world…, my kingdom is not of this world…, lay up your treasures in heaven…, and finally in Luke 16:9, it says, make to yourself friends of the mammon of unrighteousness, that when you fail they might receive you into everlasting habitation. All scriptures pointing to Eternal Life; choose life eternal today, and you shall be saved and your house hold. Amen
