Raw food - Real food, Dogs have eaten this natural food by hunting for the last 15,000 years. “Kibble” - From the 1930’s onwards this has been fed to most dogs in the West when manufacturers needed to maximise profits by using the ingredients unfit for human consumption and created “dog food”. We are no longer going to be stocking “kibble” for pets - the only food we will stock in the very near future is Natures’ Menu (real food) since we only ever feed our own dogs raw natural food. Please, if you haven’t already thought about feeding your dog(s) (or cat(s)) real food instead of the commercially, heavily advertised rubbish that contains damaging unnatural ingredients as well as high levels of sugar and salt (so your pet is essentially “speedballing”, consuming the nutritional equivalent of certain fast-food “meals” for humans everyday), come and visit Hilary + Tony at Mortimer pet shop where we will give you all of the help and advice that you and your pet need. Many people have come into our shop, tried Nature’s Menu raw food and never looked back - common improvements in health (in a matter of days) from switching to raw include: -Shinier coats -Healthier skin -Cleaner teeth -Smaller and cleaner stools/poo (The poo biodegrades very quickly and in a couple of days can be crumbled into a white powder meaning no more sludgy mess on your shoes.) -Healthier energy levels spread out through the day (“kibble” can cause short bursts of hyperactivity and then long periods of lethargic behaviour-raw food helps to restore a balanced mental state to your pet). -Your pet will drink a lot less water since they are getting water naturally from the raw food (instead of cramming dry biscuit down their throat) However a few people have said that their pet won’t eat the raw (real) food and can only eat the kibble or canned food it has been eating since they were weened. If a human aged 30 has only been eating fast food since a child (assuming they survived that long!) their brain has been wired to crave the sugar and salt (the “speedballing” effect) and unnatural unhealthy ingredients over time since it is the only form of food that it knows - it is the same situation with animals: -With dogs: try starving them for a day or two (it isn’t “cruel” many carnivores do not eat for days in the wild) or only offer raw food until they eat it - and they will eventually eat it (note most dogs usually just eat the food!) -With cats: cat owners will know that starving your cat longer than 24 hours is potentially dangerous so keep feeding the commercially processed kibble/cans to your cat BUT add a little bit of raw, slowly day by day (over 1-2 weeks) increasing the amount of raw you add and reducing the amount of processed food. The Nature’s Menu raw food bags contain convenient frozen cubes (we have 2 freezers fully stocked on a weekly basis in the shop) and you simply take out the amount you need for your pet (we can help you with this - it is very easy) and put it in their food bowl in the evening, cover the bowl and either leave it out or put it in the fridge overnight and then feed it to your pet in the morning (or half in the morning and half in the evening). We have 3 dogs: -Ruby (a Dogue de Bordeaux) -Hector (an English Bulldog) -Milly (a Lhasa apso x toy poodle) They are all fed on raw and very happy! We hope to see you soon!
