Ray Betzner, Assistant Vice President of University Communications at Temple, says the university had not been notified of the alleged attack. Having taken place off of the universitys campus, he said it is out of Temple University Polices jurisdiction, which ends at 16th Street. We have primary concern of ensuring the safety of the 5,000 to 6,000 students who live on campus, he said. Those students who choose to live in the City of Philadelphia are protected by Philadelphia Police. Not only do we (upperclassmen) not get the privilege of being guaranteed on-campus housing, we justify that by thinking about how much money we save by moving off campus.. (two blocks way.) Saying that you are not responsible for our safety (after you assured me that paying all this money to get an education in a very unsafe area is totally fine because you guys care...) is an insult. To say the absolute bare minimum!
