Re: Appointment of Yakubu as Commissioner - This is not true Written by VPN Contributor Monday, 22 December 2014 00:00 font size Print Email Following earlier reports about the appointment of Yakubu Jang as the new Commissioner of Urban and Regional Planning to replace Yilji Gomwalk (running mate to Senator GNS Pwajok) – ViewPointNigeria got in touch with the office of the Governor in order to understand the rationale and thought process behind such an appointment. In discussion with key Government sources this morning, they denied such insinuations, saying that the entire idea was the fabrication of politicians who were hell bent on pulling the government down by casting it as an ethnic and nepotic enterprise. They said the Commissioner for Information, Mohammed Abubakar who was earlier said to have held a press conference about the matter has come out to say that he never made such statements and that initial reportage of the story was erroneous and malicious. Speaking further, the Governors aide, who spoke exclusively to ViewPointNigeria said, no such appointments were made or intended to be made and that Yakubu Jang remains the Special adviser to the Governor on Special Duties and that his roles and responsibilities have not and will not change. He wondered why people would continually fabricate lies in order to advance cheap political propaganda. He said the Government has in the recent past, witness a lot of calumny and mischievous campaign tactics by politicians who try desperately to taint or paint the government as a diabolic, ethnic or nepotic government. He argued that the desperation of such politicians was fully understandable, but that this shall not deter them from forging ahead but that it will only help them consolidate their resolve to deliver.Already, sources within the Government are planning a rebuttal to this story in the dailies tomorrow.
