Re Aunty Beves passing: I just got off the phone to Aunty Beves son Mathew, and he told me the funeral will be held at Palmdale at Ourimbah and most likely on Friday or Saturday. He said that anyone who had met Aunty Beve was welcome and that Aunty Beve had given strict instructions for the service and the wake. This included a big party with guitars and music. I think we can manage that! Aunty Beve was such a strong and ethical person. I remember we were up at an old camp site of mine one day when she recieved a phone call. I tried not to listen in, but what happened was quite profound to me. The man on the phone must have really wronged Aunty Beve and now was ringing up for whatever reason and Aunty Beve really gave him a serve and a half... He must have thought that this was the end of the conversation and went to say goodbye when Aunty Beve said Wait a minute mate, thats not it. I dont just throw people away and Im not going to just throw you away. Then Aunty Beve went on to explain in detail the steps he needed to take to make the situation right, which included; going away and thinking about what he had done, and if he was genuinely sorry, to apologise to her and then they could have the conversation he was wanting to have. Aunty Beve was always looking to turn a negative situation into a positive one. I heard her say many times We dont want to just throw people away. So many people just accept people talking badly of others and often without warrant. And not many people end up being held accountable or get the opportunity to be shown what they are doing is wrong. Instead of just trashing that person back or trying to drag their name through the dirt, Aunty Beve always looked to help the person to do the right thing in the future. And to me that means a lot! I will post details of the service as soon as I know them.
