Re. #CancelColbert: POCs and white allies: can we please be more discerning around where we channel our righteous indignation? Im so tired (and you should be too) of watching us scamper and scream, pontificate and debate whenever some random occurance of possible racial insensitivity occurs. Think of the wasted energy. Not to mention that everything isnt offensive, everything isnt racist and everything isnt wounding. Satires entire purpose is to be effective, not necessarily politically correct. Can we cultivate an ability to have a nuanced sense of humor, a resistance to reactionary responses and an enjoyment of political satire? Can we stop feeding the news cycles and carreers of the political commentators who make a living from fanning the flames of our ire? I can think of an entire prison industrial complex that would better benefit from our collective indignation.
