Re: Christians v Sallah Ram Fellow Christian brethren, if you refuse to eat Sallah ram + rice with our Muslim brethren, why should they come eat Christmas Chicken + rice with you? Me I get three invites already but due to logistic and the constraints of the size of my stomach I shall be attending two - one in my estate and another outside of my estate. I recall when I was around 11 - 15 years old, my dad, an Alhaji would kill 3 rams and share like 2 of that to our neighbours on the same street and even farther than that - when my mum, Alhaja finishes frying the stew (God bless their memories) I would now be sent on a second round of errands to deliver the rice to some of these neighbours. There were two things that were most notable at those times - one, I get to get a lot thank you Naira and second, there were one or two people that didnt use to collect the Rams but would collect the Rice or not collect any at all. Well years ago when I became a Christian at the age of 22, I came across Apostle Pauls teaching on these and all I could do was to laugh - then it occurred to my why these people used to reject the food - but what surprised me the most was that my dad would send the meat back every other year to the same persons that rejected the meat the previous year! Such was the unique spirit of the man, who interestingly would kill rams during Easter and Christmas seasons as well and do these all over again to the utter bewilderment of our neighbours - what many of them didnt know was that he came from a mixed background of Catholics + Muslims and always saw the reason to rejoice with both faiths. His liberality and that of my mums definitely made my acceptance of JESUS CHRIST not to be a difficult time at all as I never bothered if they would reject me or not - to the brethren that still do these, I urge you to get properly worded on the subject matter. To all the Muslim brethren out there, I say Eid Mubarak, Happy Eid El-Fitr.
