(WAVY) - An Elizabeth City man is behind bars accused of assaulting his girlfriend and firing a gun at the car she and an infant were in Sunday night. Capt. John Young with the Elizabeth City Police Department said officers responded to the 700 block of Hunter Street for a report of a domestic argument and gunshots. There, they found the victim and her sister as well as the infant. The victim was bruised and had abrasions on her face and upper body, Young said. She told police she was assaulted by her boyfriend, Clinton Rashod Franklin. Franklin is accused of assaulting the victim and turning a handgun on her and her sister, threatening to kill them. When the victim grabbed the infant and rushed out to escape in a vehicle, Franklin reportedly shot at the vehicle with the victim and infant inside. No one was hit by gunfire, Young said. Franklin was arrested and charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill, discharging a weapon into occupied property, two counts of assault on a female, assault by pointing a gun, communicating threats, injury to personal property, going armed to the terror of the people and discharging a firearm in city limits. When it comes to domestic violence, nobody does it better than niggers. He is being held in the Albemarle District Jail under a $136,000 bond.
