Re: The Country Music Hal lOf Fame: For a long time, it seems to me, the main qualifications for entrance into the Country Music Hall Of Fame have been: 1. Live in or near Nashville. 2.Sell a lot of records.(CDs, product, whatever) 3. Be nice, or failing that, be powerful. 4.Live a long time. IMHO, entry into the CMHOF should be about sustained musical excellence, profound influence on the music, and importance to the history of the genre ie--can the story of country music be accurately told without mentioning this person or persons? The following omissions, in my mind, are only the most egregious: The Stanley Brothers, Rose Maddox, Clarence White ,and Carl Butler .Sadly, they seem to have joined Jimmy Martin in the snowballs chance in hell category...and Clarence cant even seem to make any headway with The Bluegrass Hall Of Honor, a genre in which he has undeniably been a huge influence on the way everybody who has picked up a guitar to play bluegrass does it, including this years honoree, Tony Rice, a fact to which Im sure Tony will eagerly attest. Im just sayin...
