“Re-engineering Education” inspires satirical verses Sheila - TopicsExpress

“Re-engineering Education” inspires satirical verses Sheila Wyse, a retired teacher and former local president from Cariboo-Chilcotin, and her husband Charlie, a former MLA, heard on the radio about the Liberal plan to re-engineer education to focus on learning for earning, rather than learning for the sheer joy of it. That news inspired her to write this poem and send to the CBC (along with apologies to plumbers, she added!) Come one, come all to BC schools, Leave your books but bring your tools. Leave the art and leave the music, Don’t debate or think – just do it! ITA and Ministry of Ed, Will train your brain and fill your head With their idea of education, You’ll fit right into their perfect nation. Who needs poets, dreamers, thinkers? We need slaves and Kool-Aid drinkers To punch the clock and swing the mallet, And check the right box on the ballot. So rise up teachers, families, friends! We have an important message to send Our children are our precious resource And not a mindless, Liberal workforce.
