Read Tionna C. Haynes on Miller Library! Date: 14 September 2014 From: Tionna C. Haynes Subject: Miller Light: There ARE books in the Miller Furniture Complex! I like my Miller Library heavy on the furniture and light on the books . . . said no one ever. On a previous Civil Discourse blast, I suggested that we renamed Miller Lie-brary because there were no books in it. Some of my suggestions were: lie-brary, Raymour & Flanigan, chair and desk complex with some offices and printers in it or the all-purpose [except for finding an actual book] edifice. However . . . I stand corrected (sort of)! A source on the inside tells me that Miller is home to over 160,000 books. But I GOTTA QUESTION! How many books were in the library back in 2012-2013 (the last year Miller was a true library)? My source also tells me that students have been requesting more study space for the past 10 years. I GOT ANOTHER QUESTION: Would those students want this many books removed from the library to get that study space? I doubt that those students would compromise the integrity of a library for more study space. Books are beautiful, but renovators placed the books in hiding as if they are hideous. I am simply proposing that we call Miller what it is and stop calling it what it aint. It is not a library anymore. It is a place that fosters education because people get to do their assignments, but, like I said before, there are no books. As big as Miller is, 160,000 books are invisible. I appreciate those 160,000 books, but lets keep it real. Miller looks more like a modern, cool student center with some dope ass furniture. Millers Sugar, Spice, and Everything Nice [Except for Books] Complex sounds like a nice fit. Bring Books the Books. Please. The vine compilation to my I GOT A QUESTION reference: youtu.be/aaYOOazVyRw
