Read between the lines (voices for women against violence) I heard it said There was a Man Who noticed The essence of her being Not sure how it all began But I know the ending Had just this Morning Heard of her unfolding When she was stricken With malaise and grievance No one cared to listen Not her neighbors Not even the closest family members Yet still, I think he must have paid the piper Because He plucked the living life Right out of the flower Inside the affairs of the heart What truly matters, dies And this for a game of chance In the so called state of happiness He ran for the hills as far as his legs could take him Away from the harbor of feeling The resentment that can Only hold the face of disappointment He lacked commitment That is all It was easy to pluck one petal at a time Til they all fell down When the predator sinks teeth into prey The weaker is torn apart Which brings me to the following question Does one persons life matter over another? The flame of the flower Weakened by desire now ever so gently burned out Though nothing lasts forever Not even a moment in the past I read it in the papers How he had no regret In his so called crime of passion The avenue of vengeance is Attached with stringent subservience And nothing made sense inside of her head Hadnt she done all that he asked? No nothing ever got better She learned very well the submission Of a controlling bastard No scream was heard Inside the walls of putrefied stones Now she is spent The rest of her days The rest of her nights In a tombstone That which represents the welts and scratches Of being eaten alive By an animated society Who sees no evil Hears no evil And speaks no evil In the papers it said She died a quick death Though nobody knows the hour of the hand.
