Read now this really inspiring interview with a photographer Todd Fuller: What was your first riding shot like? Nervous – Josh Mattson (pro skateboarder) was about to do a big gap and I was super nervous that Id miss the shot (but I got it). Do you ride yourself? When I was younger I was really into freestyle BMX. At about 15 I switched my focus to skateboarding and spent the next dozen years doing little else. 3 hot tips for riders when they are being taken pictures of? 1. When shooting photos, pick a trick you can make and push it to the limits rather than trying something you’re not sure you can make. 2. Photos are collaborative – you know what your best tricks are and the best spots to do them – work with the photographer to help make the best possible shot. 3. Don’t be self-conscious and over analyze things like what your hands are doing, or what face you are making – just do what you do and be OK with it. Riders that inspire you? Mark Gonzales is the guy who inspired me to start skateboarding. Grant Brittain inspired me to start shooting photos and all the people I get to shoot with everyday inspire me to keep striving to do better work. How do you chill after a good photoshoot? It’s always fun to just hang out with everyone after the session, but its really hard for me to relax until the photos are safely transferred to the computer and I’ve been able to confirm that what I was seeing on the camera is really what I captured. For me it’s not over until that’s done.
