Read the Bible with your kids at home, assign a special time to - TopicsExpress

Read the Bible with your kids at home, assign a special time to sit down with your children and do a Bible study with them, you might be surprised at how much they learn and how much they’ll actually enjoy it. One of the things that I have noticed in many of our wonderful Christian children and the youth as well is that they don’t understand the Bible much. They are there for every preaching, for every Bible study and Sunday school but they lack a deeper understanding of the Word of God, and even on the more basic passages which are the core of our Christian faith they are often unclear as to what the words expressed in those verses truly mean and how they could be effectively applied into their everyday lives. As Christian parents I know that we pray, fast, anoint our kids with holy oil and declare our children for Christ, which is all great and I know it truly works, but let’s not forget that we are also mandated by God in His holy Word to train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22: 6. The key here is we must instruct them in Gods way, which will set our children for a victorious walk with The Lord. Amen! And by that I don’t mean that we have to drill down their heads that they have to become the next pastor in the family or else! But what we should do is instill in them that serving God is a personal decision, let them know from early on that God loves them, that He is their Father, their friend and He is someone they can always count on. The fact that you pray, read the Bible and have a relationship with God yourself, does not mean that your kids are at the same label you are, you have to teach them. Otherwise they could grow up feeling as bystanders, instead of feeling like they are part of God’s family. You want them to feel as part of God’s circle, because when they grow up you don’t want them to look at church as a task or reading the Bible as simply a chore, you want to them to have a close relationship with God and for your kids to get to know Him and have a personal relationship with Him. Read the Bible with them, pray with them, give your children words of encouragement, test their Bible knowledge with trivia games, make it fun with reverence to God always of course, but make it their priority to want to please God, and that they want to do so on their own, not just do so because you are pressuring them to be perfect Christian children. When my girls want me to buy them a toy or if they want to watch a movie that contradicts our believes, I don’t give them a half hour sermon on how we are not to watch such things, but I do ask them what does the Bible say about that and if they think God would approve of them watching that movie, and The Lord Himself deals with them and before I know it they put the movie away. There are times that if they insist too much, I just start praying in my mind and ask God to shift their interest into something I could actually get them that it will be pleasing to Him and suddenly they swap movies or toys for something else. Our God truly answers our prayers! Hallelujah! Let’s ask the Lord to give us the wisdom to instruct our children in His way and that they excel at everything they do for the glory of His holy name! Amen! God bless you all and your wonderful children!
