Read this letter from my grandkids school.(Park Christian in Moorhead) I didnt know anything about this. Shouldnt our school have informed us about a new MSHSL policy since it would affect our kids too? Im not sure how to interpret this policy. Can somebody let me know exactly what they are proposing? The letter is as follows:::: Although it is not the schools practice to ask or encourage parents to get involved in specific politics or policies that are being discussed in the public forums, it is our desire to defend our religious freedom and to protect our students from a new rule that may put the safety and privacy of our students at risk. We want to make you aware of a very concerning proposed policy that the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) has drafted regarding the participation of transgender students. MSHSL member schools should be very concerned about this proposed policy because it would try to force schools to comply in order for their students to compete in MSHSL athletics. If this proposed policy is adopted as written by the MSHSL, the risk is that the MSHSL would try to have (Park Christian School) accommodate a visiting team that has a transgender student-athlete. This would basically be like the MN version of the CA bathroom bill. To summarize, it would essentially allow an approved transgender student to participate on a team not of their biological gender. Therefore, the transgender student-athlete would gain access to locker rooms, bathrooms, shower facilities, overnight accommodations, and presumably uniforms and other dress code rules of their opposite biological gender. It is CRITICALLY important that the MSHSL receives feedback on this proposed policy, especially from parents! The school will oppose any policy that asks us to compromise biblical truth and put the safety and privacy of students at risk. We strongly encourage you to email the Exec. Dir. of MSHSL with your thoughts on this proposed policy. The MSHSL board will be meeting twice to discuss this policy - Wednesday, October 1st at 3:00pm and Thursday, October 2nd at 9:30am. The public is welcome to attend. Heres the directors address and/or email: Mr. David Stead, Executive Director Minnesota State High School League 2100 Freeway Boulevard Brooklyn Center, MN 55430-1735 Email: [email protected]
