Reader Mail (borders): Nearly did not finish you column as it had a closed minded opinion but I agree with your end point. You needlessly brought racism into your argument. And yes I DO NOT have the same concerns for the northern border because the bloodshed is south and the illegals dealing heroin in my old safe neighborhood in the midwest were also from the southern border. My Canadian friend was NOT robbed with 20 others in Canada, but in Mexico. My coworker listened to a long shoot out while in a Mexican resort, not Canada. Neither will return to Mexico, both associated with law enforcement, not scared tourists. Comparing these 2 borders appears uninformed or bias since the people, cultures and the amount of illegal activity are different. My closest friend is liberal and the most close minded individual of all of them. My experience is most conservatives have the same work and moral standards as most democrats, hard working, honest, who dont need anyone telling them how to live. The big problem is being uninformed of the facts on both sides. Your blanket belief that conservatives support the expenditures, decisions made by a few elected officials even if we voted for them, is wrong. The border question is out of our control as is nearly everything this current government is doing. A lawless country does not thrive. May continue to read your opinions as I am one of many conservatives with an open mind. Direct your assaults towards government who decide policy. Racist come in all shades.
